Check out Bastrop,
Texas!
Established in 1832, Bastrop has a rich
heritage. In her early years she was the meeting ground for Tonkawa and
other Southwestern Indians. In 1821 Stephen F. Austin came through here and
decided to establish a settlement on the Colorado River. The city is named for
Philip Hendrick Nering-Bogel, the Baron de Bastrop. He interceded with the
Mexican governor to allow Austin to bring settlers here. In 1827 Austin
received a grant for the colony at Bastrop.

Today Bastrop's historical features are
very prevalent downtown. The old iron bridge is celebrated every year in a
big festival. The old iron bridge has now been paralleled with a new bridge
which is wider and easier for vehicular travel. Crossing these bridges, from
the hustle and bustle of Hwy 71, brings you into the historical downtown area
where antiques, arts & crafts, books, gifts, the Olde Dime Store's candy
counter, Lock Drugs Store's vintage ice cream parlor and the famous Old Opera
House are there to delight residents and visitors alike. Surrounding the
downtown area are 130 historic homes, the new river walk with a city park on
each end. Further out, you'll find lakes for fishing, 2 state parks and three
18 hole golf courses. We also have a myriad of sports and cultural programs for
youth and many lovely churches. With the river running through our community
Bastrop has beautiful trees soaring to tremendous heights for everyone's
enjoyment.
In the last few years there has been an
amazing amount of growth. Some of the businesses include HEB's Super Store
(now with a drive through pharmacy), Wal-Mart's Supercenter, Tractor Supply
Company TSC, Owl's Western Wear, Pay-Less Shoes, Beall's clothing store,
Chabot's Mostly Italian Restaurant, Wendy's, Schlotzchy's, Taco Bell, Block
Buster Video, Radio Shack and of course we have a Dairy Queen and a McDonald's
plus many, many more. You won't be at a loss to find good food here.
Beautiful Bastrop is being hailed as the
Heart of the Colorado. Located only 30 miles SE of Austin, our state
capitol, and 20 miles SE of the new international airport, you get the best of
both worlds here.
"We have commuter-friendly skies. If
you commute to Austin 8-5, the sun won't be in your eyes. Come see us soon."

Cosmetic Improvements >Cosmetic Repairs
The better your home in looks while it is on the market, the more likely it is to sell quickly, and for the best price. When you have a listing appointment with a real estate agent, the agent will provide a detailed market analysis along with the advantages of listing with their company. He or she will then go through your home with you and make suggestions about cosmetic repairs that will help to present your home at its best.
The real estate agent's recommendations can make some sellers uncomfortable and a little defensive because they are reminders of all the "little" projects they have postponed. Real estate agent's occasionally encounter a homeowner who "has it all together", but such people are rare! Most sellers need suggestions about repairs that will make their home show well, and providing these ideas is an important part of a real estate agent's job.
